Alchemy Recyclers Private Limited recovers and recycles precious metals from electronic waste and from other precious-metal-bearing waste: jewellery industry waste, spent catalysts and plating waste.

Urban mine & envisioned project

E-waste is 40 to 50 times richer than ore.

One tonne of gold ore yields about 5 grams of gold. One tonne of phone circuit boards yields about 150 grams, 30 times as much. Urban mining is the chance to reclaim precious metals and rare earth elements used in high-end mobile and communication devices.

This is why scrap electronics are called the “urban mine”: the concentration of metal is many times higher than in ore from the earth’s crust.

Alchemy was formed by techno-commercial entrepreneurs with more than 20 years of experience in the electronic and electrical scrap industry. We are electrical engineers by profession.

We have adapted our technology to Indian raw materials, with equipment sourced from overseas. We use solvent extraction for surface-plated items, and thermal reduction plus solvent extraction for embedded parts like processors and integrated chips.

Our thermal reduction and pollution control systems are engineered to run efficiently even at low volumes, meeting the current and emerging needs of the waste processing industry.

Director

Mr Sagar Upadhyay holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunication and has years of experience in e-waste management and recycling. He is passionate about bringing the informal scrap supply chain into the formal recycling ecosystem.

He has hands-on experience in e-waste procurement, marketing, operations, metal recycling, compliance and reverse logistics. His engineering background and recycling experience help him drive digital change for informal enterprises and build a strong network across the recycling trade.
